Nathalie Dahlgren is a Swedish artist based in Byron Bay, Australia. She draws her inspiration from her own experiences as well as Scandinavian sagas, ancient art findings, nature, music, and culture. Her earlier works were inspired by the feminine form, and a woman’s spiritual journey to remain in contact with the wild within, in a world of restrictions.

 

In her most recent body of work, she explores the concept of origin and the power of connecting to one's roots through abstract expression, colors, and texture. By incorporating poems, Nathalie expands the meaning of each artwork, deepening the element of storytelling within her practice.

 

Nathalie is also a singer, poet, and dancer; her art is intimately connected with these passions. During her time in Sweden, she was involved in a Dance Poetry project to raise money through performance for homeless children in Riga. 

 

Today apart from working as a visual artist, she is a co-creator of the dark-folk electronic music project called “Vardlokkr”, which has influences of her Scandinavian roots. “Vardlokkr” debuted their self-titled EP July 2023.
